Mojo working on a "toothpick"

Dad mentioned to me the other day that he wasn't being very good about posting things to his blog, which got me thinking about MY blog - oops, it has been some time since I've shared anything going on with Wallace and I.

So...
Today dad went out to do some yard work before it starts to rain (they keep telling me it's going to rain - I'm just glad it cooled off!), so I thought I'd go out and help him out.

Turns out everything he was doing required a thumb! I've tried, but I just can't hold on to things as well as he can. So I just helped by keeping him company. He was nice enough to stop every so often and too a stick for me. What a guy.

So I asked him to stop and take a picture of me so that I can post it to my blog! So here you are!

Into the Bar

Wallace here. That was different and fun. Mom & Dad were walking us this evening and we went by this bar. The two bouncers out front were very excited to see us. One wanted to take us in to scare the girls inside by saying that we were wolves.

Well, mom went in with ME and the bouncer. It sure was loud in there - all sorts of loud music playing. That bouncer guy was right - those girls were scared to see such a big furry kid in the bar!! They all screamed and got me really excited.

Mojo was outside wondering what was going on. He kept trying to look into the bar to be sure I was OK. He seemed really worried about me.

When I came out we were both so excited that we jumped up in the air at each other!

This jumping up stuff seemed pretty fun -- so when we met some more people soon after the bar I decided I should jump up again! Well, dad wasn't too happy about that......

but it was fun...!   =)

April 14, 2008 - 8:05 PM

What's this date and time you ask? This is when we came upon our first rattlesnake of the year.

Folks look at dad funny when he is walking me and Mojo around the neighborhood after dark - carrying a flashlight in one hand, and our leash and a pair of snake tongs in the other hand. But there is a reason for this - dad knows.

He knows that when it gets hot like it has been the last few days, and when summer is almost here - he knows that is prime snake season. Add to that mom having a "bad feeling" about snakes today, and sure enough...

Dad got through walking Mojo, then took me on a walk. We were back in the fenced area around the house and dad let me off the leash. One minute later, and about 40 feet from the house, I walked by it - luckily dad was right behind me with the flashlight and the tongs. He yelled for me to "leave it!" - which I certainly did! As soon as I heard that noise I have learned about in rattlesnake avoidance training I was off for the house.

Luckily dad also carries his cell phone on walks, he was able to call mom who came out and brought him the shovel. That took care of that.

Over 3 feet long - thick sucker. 8 buttons on the rattle.

It might be a long summer...be careful out there fur-buddies!

Wallace.

Been a Long Time

I know it has been a long time since I have done any blogging - things are still a little weird around the house, but much better.

Mom & Dad have taken the path that they are just going to keep us separated for now. They have let us play a little outside, and that went pretty well. But the house is sooooo small that Wallace still gets uppity. Mom is really hoping that once we move to a bigger place and we have more room that things will fall into place.

The up side to this situation? Dad (and mom usually too) takes us for a walk every day! It's nice when mom is up to it, because then we can all walk together. We walk all sorts of places. Around the ranch of course, and up where those new houses are - a few dogs up there too - and they take us shopping and for walks, Ralph's, Fresh & Easy, CVS - all over the place.

It's a lot of fun at the stores because people have very interesting reactions to seeing us!  =)   The little kids are great. Some are scared because we are bigger than they are. Mom has me lay down for the little ones, and that helps a lot. I like to see them smile. And lots of people take our picture too.

So for now we are just rolling along. We have both been having tummy trouble too, and I can tell you, I am really getting tired of brown rice and boiled chicken for dinner. Well, the chicken is good!

Mojo fighting cabin feaver - too much energy

So Wallace and I aren't getting along so well right now. There has been SO MUCH going on that everything is a little crazy right now. I also think that he thinks he should be in charge. But I was here first, I'm King. Aren't I?

Well, this all isn't making mom & dad too happy with us. So we have been separated for a few days. Which really sucks because I love my broth and want to run and play with him.

This also means we are spending more time in the house not running and playing - so we both have a lot of extra energy to burn! Mom & dad are planning on taking us for lots of long walks, but it has been raining a LOT and we couldn't go. But this morning it stopped and dad took me out to toss a stick - he's funny and calls it a toothpick because Wallace and I like to lay and chew on it.

Well, I was running circles around dad trying to burn off some energy and he started tossing the stick and he must have thought I was really, really cute because he took the video below of me. I'm a star! Aren't I cute??

Things change

It has been a rough month around here. First those big fires with all that smoke forced us to leave our house for 11 days. At lease we got to stay with Grandma and Grandpa, so that sure helped! Then we we came back home everything smelled different, and so many if the trees and plants we gone that everything sounded different and we could see lots of things we couldn't see before. See more here.

And Wallace has been acting differently. I hope he is OK. He has been picking fights with me and I really don't like it. I can see that mom and dad don't either. I heard them talk about taking him to the doctor today. I hope they can find out what is going on.

But the biggest change of the month will be happening today. Mom and Dad will be taking Loozie to cross the Rainbow Bridge. It will be strange around here without her. She has been here my entire life. She my older sister. I know she hasn't been feeling that well for a long time, but this last week she hasn't been having any fun at all, poor girl. I hope she enjoys her new life on the other side of the bridge. I know we sure will be missing here over here.

mobile posting - orientation day

Wallace here - I'm the big dog today! I've hijacked Mojo's blog!

Mom & Dad brought me here to the training field and left Mojo at
home. I am having a good time hanging out with Dad and seeing all the
people here...but there is only one other dog here, so I am not really
sure why we are here...

Don't get me wrong. I loved getting a ride in the truck and the field
is always a ton of fun (well, it's more fun when Hurley is here!!).
Guess I will have to wait and see what happens. I must be here for
some reason!

Good thing Dad got me some water and there is shade here - it got
really hot today! This morning was great - nice and cool for a change.

If I can get back on Mojo's blog later I'll let you know what happens today.

Fresh!

Forgot to tell you - Wallace and I went to the bath house yesterday and got all cleaned up. They gave me a nice cut to keep me cool. Mom wasn't too happy when she saw that they forgot to give Wally the same treatment. She says we are going back and they are going to fix it. Go mom!

So we both smell nice and fresh! Wonder how long that will last... hee hee.

Just another day on the Ranch

Nice quiet Saturday. Mom and Dad let us lay around the house most of the day just takin' it easy.
But then it was time to go out after it cooled down - gave me and Wallace some time to play, and eat pears off the tree. I think Wallace got a tomato from Dad - but he wouldn't tell me for sure.

I showed him though. After he wandered off to play with Loozie or something - I got to play tug-rope with Dad. That's the best!

New blog space

Well, I got all my "old" blog postings moved over here to Blogger now. Dad says this is an easier tool for me to use with my big fat paws - so hopefully I will be getting more posts up and more photos too!

I'll skip the photo of the excitment today. Mom & Dad were in the garden putting some new plants in the ground when Loozie came over to see what was going on. And then suddenly she was looking at a 3+ foot rattlesnake! Why she totally forgot her training and just stood there looking at it we aren't sure. Just last week she was freaking out over a gopher snake that was on the porch - guess that was all she had in her.

Luckily it was making some noise and Dad was ready with the tongs - he got Loozie out of the way and took care of business. I guess I can't blame Loozie - I think Wallace and I pretty much forgot all of our training too...bummer!

OK. Time to go grab the cool floor in the bathroom for the night.

Till next time...

Yes - I am still here…

March 28th, 2007

Hi folks – yes, I am still around. Mom and Dad have been keeping really busy and they do take us with them sometimes too! But nothing too exciting, so I haven’t felt the need to be posting it here. But it had been so long I thought that I had better make some sort of posting!

Looks like the rainy reason is over, so no more worries about tromping in wet, muddy feet and getting on the bed. Guess we will have to start torturing the cats more! Have to keep mom and dad on their toes somehow!

Wallace and I each got a bath a few weeks ago – now we are ready to start up with Rally class again! What fun! It has worked out well that mom was able to talk dad into trying out Rally – I think he might actually like it! Of course, what’s not to like when working with ME! I sure make dad look good out there.

They must think Loozie knows all she can handle – they never take HER to training! What’s up with that? But…now that I think about it, that’s a good thing – more time for ME to be at the field meeting other dogs and having fun!!!

That’s about it for now. I do remember hearing the humans talk about chickens – but I haven’t seen any yet. Well, I don’t think I have – what does a chicken look like???

Is this bed big enough??

January 27th, 2007

I don’t know what Dad’s problem is. I think there is plenty of room on this bed! I mean, if he didn’t want us up here, why did he build us stairs and teach us to us them???

It’s the Holidays - 2006

January 2nd, 2007

Well it has been sometime since I have been able to get on the computer. Mom and Dad have been really busy and have been taking me and Wallace and Loozie with them a lot of places so it has been hard to sit down at the keyboard.

We got to go to grandma and grandpa’s house a number of times – which is always fun. We even got to take a lot of walks! It was different this time – everyone seemed to have a lot of colorful lights hanging all over their houses and plants and things. We all liked it, but we don’t really get what was going on.

But then mom and dad explained to us about something called Christmas and a family dinner – mom said that is why we had to go and get a bath again. But after the bath Wallace and I each got a sock thing filled with treats – dad called it a stocking. We both thought that they smelled great. Hey, now that I think about it we never did get any of those treats!!

Then a few days latter Wallace got a new football to play with! This Christmas thing is pretty cool.

Here’s a shot of us shopping on Dec 25th…

Yum - Turkey!

November 25th, 2006

After chasing the wild turkeys around the yard the last few weeks, we finally got to eat a little at
Grandma & Grandpa’s yesterday. All kinds of people were over so they left us in the back - that’s not too much fun. But we did get to look at them through the window, and FINALLY got let in later!
Grandpa was still in the food room — I think they call it the kitchen. All I know is that is where Grandpa “drops” food and we eat it!
Mom actually got some of the good turkey and gave it to us - that was good stuff. Them we got to go for a long walk around the neighborhood! The old girl Loozie even kept up with us the whole time. And my trouble-making brother lunged at some bicycles going by — mom wasn’t too happy about that! When will he learn??
Back home again today and everything is back to normal.
I hear mom and dad talking about a parade coming up - I wonder just what a parade is……..

Check out this yummy looking bird wandering around MY yard!

These two are actually fighting through the fence - I would have ‘helped’ but I couldn’t get to them!

Saturday Training - What’s This All About???

November 19th, 2006

Well, it started off like a normal Saturday - Mom & Dad trying to sleep in! Ha! Well, we let them just a little bit, but then we got them up. And next thing you know I’m at the training field…but, it’s Saturday!??!??

Oh ya - I’m in Beginner 3 and we have a special 2-hour Saturday session so we can have the whole field to ourselves to run around off leash! We don’t bother correcting the humans when they talk about training us to “come” when off leash! We know better - it’s just play time!!!

My buddy Hurley was there too! After running around in the hot sun frustrating our dads we kicked back in the shade under a tree for a bit. Hurley is a lot of fun.

Somehow we all survived the extra long class. =)

See you all again soon……

A Change in the Training pattern

November 9th, 2006

Well, tonight Mom & Dad switched classes on us. Mom is now taking Wallace through Advanced Rally, and Dad gets me in Beginner 3. But guess what? That’s cool with me. I have a lot more fun in the Beginner 3 class - and Hurley is in there too, what could be better than that!?!?

Once Dad gave up trying to keep my in jail - I think they call it a crate (I call it hell) things weren’t too bad. But I sure didn’t like being left sitting there where I couldn’t get to Dad while he was teaching that other class with those other dogs! What was he thinking?!

I guess I can forgive him, he is really nice to me (except for that jail time).

Till next time……..

The Mobile Zoo — Out for Dinner!

November 5th, 2006

What fun! Mom & Dad took me, my brother and sister all up to see 4 other dogs tonight (and their humans). The 7 of us had a great time running around in the avocado trees, chasing Banjo and Hurley around, and helping the humans to BBQ and smoke some great smelling meat. Too bad they didn’t let us eat some of that. But it was OK really, because there were all these great bones to chew on - outside and in the house too! Mom and Dad don’t get bones for us……but they just might now that they have seen just how much we loved them!
I sure hope we get to go up there more and more. Mom and Dad sure seemed to have a good time too, so I think it might happen again. Each time we go we have more and more fun. I think the humans do too.
This was much more fun than the training field!

"Old" Photos

November 1st, 2006

Since this site is pretty new, I thought I’d go back and put up some “old” photos of me and the other kids.
